Market position report

See what your industry's records already say about your business.

Every report comes back with one specific finding and what it is worth in money. Not a dashboard, not a score out of ten, and not a list of things you already know. One finding, the evidence under it, and what we would do about it.

Free. No call, no card, nothing to install.

What these reports found

Real businesses, real numbers, none of it supplied by them

$49,000

A year of commission, lost while four comparable stores in the same city grew.

Drinks retailer, Portland

$66.84

Extra cost per visit against comparable agencies, on $3.06m of losses. Visit mix did not explain it.

Home health, Florida

$37.7m

Of federal work expiring inside eighteen months, 93% of it with a single customer.

Contractor, Tacoma

46.9%

How far their market had shrunk while they read it as a sales problem.

Fundraising firm, Connecticut

What a finding looks like

The chart usually gets there before the paragraph does

Both are lifted from reports further down this page. Every figure in them comes from a public filing, and the report names which one.

A market that halved, and a firm that read it as a sales problem
-2 15 32 49 66 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 Organisations still hiring firms like theirs How many were this firm's clients
Connecticut organisations still hiring paid fundraisers, against how many of them belonged to one firm. The firm's own client count fell 30%. The pool it drew from fell 47%, so its share of the market actually went up.

Read the second line against the first Their clients fell. The market they sell into fell faster. Those two facts point at opposite conclusions, and only one of them is visible from inside the business.

Three quarters of the work on the books runs out inside eighteen months
0.0m 11.3m 22.6m 33.9m 45.2m 37.7m Expires within 18 months 12.6m Runs beyond 18 months Federal work on the books, $m
A federal contractor's live contracts, split by when they end. The firm was winning new work at its best rate in seven years, so nothing looked wrong. The end dates sat in 38 separate documents that nobody had added up.

Nothing here is a decline This firm was winning more work than ever. The problem was in a column of the same records that nobody totals up.

Proof

Businesses that had no idea this was public

Every one was built without asking the company for anything. Read any of them and the question that matters is not whether it is impressive. It is whether anyone inside that business already knew.

Home services · Austin, Texas

Radiant Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electrical

What the report told them

You already own the highest-value product structure in your industry, and you run it at $9.99 a month with 5% off repairs and electrical left out, while the published benchmark is $14.95 to $29.95 with 15% off and all three trades in.

Whether a contractor is gaining or losing ground, from permits alone. No revenue figure is ever stated, because permits do not contain one.

Retail · Portland, Oregon

Hollywood Beverage

What the report told them

Oregon owns the spirits on your shelf, sets their price, and pays you a fixed commission. So the one part of your business the public record measures in full is the one part where you have no pricing or margin decision to make.

What a fair comparison looks like. The peer group is built from a stated test, and the stores that failed it are named in the report.

Federal contracting · Tacoma, Washington

Evergreen Fire Alarms

What the report told them

You have won $197m of federal work since 2019 and you are still winning at the same rate. Three quarters of what is left on your books runs out within eighteen months, and 93% of it belongs to one customer.

That the useful question is often about what is ahead, not what is done. This one rebuilds the book of work still on the shelf, sorted by end date.

Home health · Fort Myers, Florida

Preferred Care Home Health Services

What the report told them

You are paid more per visit than almost any comparable agency in Florida, and you still lost $3.06m. Every visit costs you $66.84 more than it costs them, and your mix of visits does not explain it.

The richest public record we have found anywhere. Medicare-billing agencies file a full profit and loss statement, so cost per visit compares directly.

Charitable fundraising · Meriden, Connecticut

RGL Inc

What the report told them

Connecticut publishes what every solicitor contracts to return to the charity. Against the firms doing your work for your kind of client you contract 38.0% against a 26.0% median, and you run more campaigns than the firms above you put together.

Why the comparison group decides the answer. Two new clients in six years reads as a sales failure until you count how much the market shrank.

Meal kits · A reporting segment, not a city

HelloFresh SE, North America

What the report told them

In 2025 your North America business shrank on purpose and made more money for it. In the first quarter it shrank again and made 45% less. One line in your own quarterly statement shows what changed.

That a refusal can be wrong. The US business files nothing on its own. The Frankfurt parent must break out North America, and that segment is the target.

Greenwood Heating & Home Services

What the report told them

You hold Trane's top dealer designation, 1921 as a founding year and more than a thousand five-star reviews. You publish no membership programme, so the one asset in this trade that compounds has nothing to compound on.

That a second report in one industry finds a different story. This firm grew while its market shrank, which is the reverse of the Austin one.

Banking · Texas

Benchmark Bank

What the report told them

Your latest quarter shows a return on assets of 0.83% after three full years above 1.3%. Every operating line in the same filing improved. The entire move is a $8,973k provision swing.

Banks file more than anyone. Every peer in the state is measurable on the same lines, so a gap in return on assets prices itself.

How it works

Three steps, and you only pay at the third one.

  1. Step one

You give us a name, we do the rest

The business name and the city is all we need. We find the records your industry files, build the report and send it over. Nothing to install, nothing to sign, no call. If no public record covers you, we tell you that instead of padding something out.

    Free
  2. Step two

You send your actuals, we rebuild it

Public records show a great deal and they never show your costs. Send us your real numbers and we run the whole diagnosis again with them in place. This one is far deeper, and it is still free. Your data is the only thing we want for it.

    Free
  3. Step three

Deeper reports, when you want them

Different questions need different reports, and those are paid. Each one needs current data from you as well, so you are never buying a second copy of something you already have.

Industries

What we can see depends on what your industry files

Some industries file a full profit and loss statement. Some file only volume. The report is shaped by which one you are, so start with yours.

Why you can trust it

What stops a report like this from being confidently wrong

Every number names its source

Each figure is either pulled from a named record with the query kept beside it, or worked out from figures that were. Anything else refuses to publish. A number nobody can trace is treated as invented, because from where you sit it looks identical to one.

The comparison group is stated, not assumed

The first thing anyone says is that those are not my competitors. So the test used to build the group is printed, applied, and the companies it excluded are listed with the reason. In one of these the original finding died when that test was applied properly, and the report says so.

Most of the ideas get killed

Each report tests seven or more courses of action and publishes the ones it rejected along with the evidence that killed them. Exactly one recommendation is allowed to survive. The rejected list is the part that took the work.

Find out what your filings already say about you.

Tell us the business name and the city. If a public record covers your industry we build the report and send it. If one does not, we tell you that instead, which is the honest answer for a fair number of industries.

No call, no card, nothing to install.
